NFL Recap: Broncos Stage Fourth-Quarter Rally Against Philadelphia, Baltimore Endure Historic Home Defeat

Broncos Overcome Eagles in Thrilling Finish

Bo Nix found a short touchdown pass and the running back added another rushing score in the final period as the Denver Broncos overcame a two-touchdown disadvantage to hand the Philadelphia Eagles their initial defeat of the season. The Broncos batted down the Eagles quarterback's last-gasp pass on the game's concluding play to send the reigning title holders to just their second loss in their previous 22 outings. The Broncos (3-2) caught a huge break in their rally when the Philadelphia had a crucial play nullified on an illegal shift penalty called on star ball carrier Barkley.

Houston Texans 44–10 Baltimore Ravens

Houston's quarterback passed for 244 passing yards and four scoring throws, and the Texans (two wins and three losses) cruised to a decisive victory over an injury-ravaged Ravens squad, matching both the biggest away victory in the franchise's record books and the most lopsided home loss in Baltimore's annals. Baltimore (1-4) were missing two-time MVP quarterback Lamar Jackson, and that was not their only problem. Defensive standouts multiple defensive leaders all were absent, and the Baltimore already were weakened on defense because of a cervical issue that ended the defensive lineman's campaign. Baltimore were also missing Pro Bowl blocker Ricard and tackle Ronnie Stanley.

Colts Rout Raiders in One-Sided Affair

Indianapolis' running back ran for three touchdowns and a two-point conversion, and the quarterback passed for two scoring throws as the Colts routed the Las Vegas Raiders. The 34-point margin was Indy's biggest since 2013. The quarterback completed 20 passes out of 29 attempts for 212 passing yards and improved to 4-1 as a starter this season, exceeding his combined victory total over the previous two years with the New York Giants. The running back rushed 17 attempts for 66 rushing yards and caught three receptions for 20 receiving yards. Indianapolis turned a blocked punt, two interceptions and a turnover on downs into touchdowns. The Raiders fell to four wins and one loss.

Cowboys Soar Past Jets in High-Scoring Game

Dak Prescott threw four scoring throws, leading the Dallas Cowboys to a comfortable win over the Jets. The Cowboys scored on two 90-yard drives in the second period, even with missing four starters on the blocking unit. The running back gained 135 rushing yards and a score and also caught a TD pass. Dallas, now two wins, two losses, and a tie, rebounded from a high-scoring draw against Green Bay last Sunday. The Jets remain winless at 0-5 in their new coach's first season as head coach.

Vikings Edge Browns in London Thriller

Vikings receiver Addison caught a short touchdown pass from Carson Wentz with under half a minute left to give Minnesota a win over the Browns at London's Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The 10-play, 80-yard drive gave the Minnesota (3-2) a crucial victory on their overseas journey, which began with a 24-21 loss to the Pittsburgh in Ireland last week. It also spoiled the rookie's first NFL start, as the Browns first-year player positioned his squad (1-4) in position to win by passing for two touchdown passes. Fellow rookie Judkins rushed for 110 yards on 23 attempts. The quarterback shook off a shoulder injury that briefly sent him to the locker room and led two touchdown marches in the latter half.

Miami Dolphins 24-27 Carolina Panthers

Bryce Young threw for two scores and the running back rushed for 206 rushing yards and a score as the Carolina Panthers rallied past the Miami Dolphins in their home stadium. The quarterback's short pass to the first-year receiver with under two minutes to go gave the Panthers (2-3) the decisive advantage as they matched the biggest rally to secure victory in franchise history by overcoming a 17-point hole. The QB had a horrific first quarter, but he ended up 19 completions on 30 attempts for 198 yards with one pick. Dowdle, replacing the sidelined starter, did his work on the ground on 23 attempts, falling four yards shy of the team's all-time rushing mark. The Dolphins' Tua Tagovailoa threw 27 of 36 for 256 passing yards with three scores and receiver Waddle gained 110 receiving yards on six receptions and scored a score, but the Miami (1-4) fell to 0-3 in away contests.

Saints Secure First Win Under New Coach

Spencer Rattler passed for an 87-yard score to Rashid Shaheed, safety Jordan Howden returned a fumble the length of the field for a touchdown, and the Saints defeated the error-prone New York Giants for the Saints' initial win under rookie coach Kellen Moore. Rattler earned his first victory in 11 professional starts, passing for 225 yards without a turnover. New York's first-year signal-caller Jaxson Dart, who won his debut last Sunday, threw for 202 passing yards and two touchdowns, but also turned the ball over three times. The Giants gave up possession five times in all, none more costly than when Bryan Bresee stripped ball carrier Skattebo, resulting in Howden's touchdown. Both teams are one win and four losses.
