News has broken that fan-favorite stars Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are returning to their iconic characters in the newest chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The film is currently in production.

An Important Return to Panem

The actors will once again portray Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, the characters they made famous. Speculation suggests their appearance will take the form of a brief glimpse ahead, given that the main film series concluded with their characters married and with children.

This signifies the sixth film in the highly successful Hunger Games franchise.

The Source Material

Sunrise on the Reaping draws its story from a newly published work by author Suzanne Collins. It will be the follow-up prequel after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Once again is Francis Lawrence, who was behind the majority of the previous films in the series.

The Storyline and Fresh Faces

The film's story are set 24 years before the first Hunger Games, focusing on a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, later known as Katniss's mentor, is portrayed as a tribute in the notorious 50th Hunger Games.

The supporting roles feature several accomplished actors in important characters:

• Jesse Plemons is playing Plutarch Heavensbee.
• Ralph Fiennes will appear as a earlier incarnation of the calculating President Snow.

What the Stars Are Doing Now & The Film's Schedule

Meanwhile, Jennifer Lawrence has been nominated for a Golden Globe for the film Die My Love. Josh Hutcherson recently appeared in the hit horror film Five Nights at Freddy's 2.
