Diving into an Bizarre Steam Demo: Playing as a Piece of Feces on a Quest to Arrive at the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is now live, and players have found a variety of interesting creations from small studios. But, one is particularly notable for its unconventional concept. Called Unko Technica, this classic-feel platformer features a protagonist that is literally a piece of poop attempting to travel to a toilet. As a fun fact, "Unko" means "poop."

How you interact is simple: press a jump control. Throughout numerous levels, encounter tough enemies and access a store to acquire outfits for your poop character.

Time your movements with caution, as a error means beginning again. Bounce using floating orbs to launch yourself upward, cross fragile platforms, and touch triggers to unlock hidden paths. Gather coins and use them on more difficult levels as gameplay gets crazy.

Graphically, the demo features eye-catching stages and an amazing background music. Its minimalist graphics of shifting abstract forms may remind fans of old favorites like Earthbound.

While it's hard to name previous releases where you control a piece of feces, video games frequently incorporated scatological themes. As an illustration, in Death Stranding, players craft throwables from character waste. Games like Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved employ dung as soil enrichment. And of course, such content shows up extensively in the adventure The Stick of Truth.

Despite its goofy premise, Unko Technica has already garnered notable accolades, including taking top honors at a major publisher's indie contest in 2023. A playable preview is ready currently on Steam, with the full game set to launch on computers on November 19.
