Countless Gaza Residents Evacuate as Israeli Troops Move Further into Gaza City

During escalated offensive moves, thousands of Palestinian inhabitants are continuing to evacuate the northern area following the Israeli declaration of a major assault.

Hospital Targeted as Shelling Escalates

During the night, Gaza’s local health ministry stated that a local children’s hospital was hit in multiple separate attacks, forcing many of its patients and their relatives to evacuate.

Israeli army indicated it was investigating the reports. Prior to this, it reported it had hit more than 150 what it called "militant sites" across Gaza City over two days.

Israel’s Announced Goal

Israel states its objective is to neutralize approximately 3,000 militant members in what it calls the group’s "last stronghold" and to rescue Israeli captives.

But, the assault has received extensive international disapproval.

Humanitarian Agencies Urge for Intervention

Leaders of more than 20 humanitarian organizations have urged international authorities to act, stating "the brutality of the circumstances in Gaza is appalling" and demanding "urgent measures".

Mass Exodus In Progress

For days, massive lines of civilians have traveled southwards from Gaza City using animal-drawn vehicles, bicycles, vehicles piled high with items, and on foot.

Until now, they have been forced to evacuate along a one route to an Israel-designated "humanitarian area" in a coastal region.

However on Wednesday, the Israel Defense Forces announced that it would allow a new path to leave, along the central Salah al-Din road. It mentioned the route would be available for 48 hours from 12:00 local time.

Skyrocketing Expenses Hinder Displacement

A significant number of Palestinians say they are incapable to move southward due to the growing prices related to the trip. A number say that using a transport now costs around nearly $900, while a makeshift home for a family costs about a large sum.

A young mother of children from Sheikh Radwan mentioned: "I had to sell my jewellery to cover the cost of displacement and a tent."

She added: "We required many hours to reach another area, and we offered over $1,000 for the journey. The line of vehicles seemed endless."

Inadequate Humanitarian Areas

Relief organizations, United Nations organizations and others say the "safe zone" they are told to move to is severely congested and not enough to support the approximately millions Palestinians who are anticipated to crowd into it.

A number of evacuees who complied with the military’s instructions to leave to the zone mention they discovered insufficient room to place their temporary homes and so returned to their original locations.

Evacuation Statistics

The IDF said on Tuesday that around 350,000 people had fled the city, while the United Nations stated the total at fewer since recent weeks. Estimates suggest at least a large number remain.

Tactical Methods

As part of its operations, the IDF is reportedly using aged equipment loaded with bombs that have been altered to be operated from a distance.

They are being maneuvered to Hamas sites and set off, according to local news outlets.

Captive Relatives Protest

Simultaneously, loved ones of the 48 remaining captives held by the group – 20 of whom are believed to be living – protested near Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s residence in the city on recent days, claiming that the operation would risk their loved ones.

{"Constantly, you claim about killing and destruction," remarked one relative of two detainees. "Demolishing structures in Gaza – who are you dropping these structures down on?"

{"Might it be that you are dropping these buildings down at this moment on our loved ones – the living and the deceased?"

Global Condemnation

The offensive has drawn broad global condemnation, with United Nations human rights chief calling it as "completely and utterly unacceptable" and British Foreign Secretary calling it as "utterly dangerous and appalling".

However, American top diplomat appeared to offer implied support for Israel’s actions during a shared press conference.

He said the United States preferred a peaceful end to the war, but that "occasionally when you're dealing with a group of extremists like Hamas, that's not an option".

UN Investigation

It coincided with a United Nations panel determined that Israel had perpetrated severe crimes against Palestinians in Gaza.

Among its results were that Israel’s troops carried out sexual and sexual violence, deliberately aimed at youth attempting to eliminate them, and carried out a "widespread and extensive assault" on educational sites in Gaza.

The foreign ministry responded it utterly rejected the report, labeling it as "inaccurate and false".

Background of the Conflict

The country initiated its offensive in Gaza in response to the militant offensive on southern Israel on 7 October last year, in which about 1,200 people were dead and
